| Abstract: | Objective:Inmicrogrid(MG),besidestheloadperturbation, volatilenaturein renewableoutputpoweralongwithenergystoragesystemandinertiauncer taintiescauselargefrequencydeviationswhichmayweakentheMGandcould leadtocompleteblackout. Therefore,MGrequiresanintelligent, efficientand robustcontrolmethod. Methods:Inresponsetothischallenge, thispaperproposesanovelfuzzylogic approach(FLA) tunedmultistagePIDcontroller for frequencycontrol of an islandedMGinthepresenceofhighrenewablepenetration.Theproposedcon trollerisintendedforprincipalparametertuningofmultistagePIDcontroller undercriticaloperatingconditionsasmentionedintheobjective. Results:Thereal-timeMGtestsystemisconsideredtopresentthesimulation results.ThetestsystemismodelledinMatlab/Simulink.Theresultsarecarried outunderdifferentoperatingscenariosandtheperformancesof theproposed techniquearecomparedwithvariousexistingtechniquesintheliterature. Conclusions:Thesimulationoutcomesdivulgethattheproposedcontrolleris moresuperior inimprovingthe frequencydynamicsof theMG(intermsof settlingtime, overshootanderrorreduction)undervariousdisturbancecondi tions.Furthermore, theproposedcontroller ismorerobust torenewableand energystoragesystemuncertaintiesinMGandlesssensitivetoMGparametric variationsascomparedtoothercontrollersinliterature |
