This paper includes weight optimization method of rotor and analysis of total power loss in radial magnetic bearing consisting of four, eight and twelve poles. Weight optimization reduces copper loss in bearing since the electromagnetic force is reduced due to optimized rotor. Further numbers of poles in magnetic bearing are varied for same electromagnetic force 350 N and stator is designed for four, eight and twelve pole of radial magnetic bearing. This design part is used to calculate different losses in radial magnetic bearing. The total loss characteristics are compared with different number of poles which will decides suitable number of poles for given configuration of bearing system. Eight poles are found suitable for peak load capacity since optimum value of copper loss is 9.9 W and total power loss is 1327 W. Also theoretical optimized dimensions of rotor found closer to software results in Mapple-13.en_US
