Abstract: This paper presents an effective switching state algorithm for flux and torque ripple minimization in direct torque control (DTC) of three phase induction motor drives. Proposed switching state algorithm gives an optimum flux and torque ripple at steady state condition and fast dynamic torque response. This control strategy is applied to three-level configuration using cascaded two two-level inverters. Simulation results for proposed DTC and conventional DTC techniques are presented and compared. It is observed that the flux and torque ripple are less with proposed DTC and also there is an improvement in the steady state performance.
