Line surveillance is a coverage and connectivity problem in wireless sensor network, monitoring the boundary line from an intruder attempting to cross the line of control. However, when sensors are deployed along the line of control like sensors are air dropped along a given line, they would be distributed along the line with random offsets due to wind and other environmental factors. In our study, the sensors are deployed along the line with different deployment distributions and their coverage was compared. The study was further extended for connectivity was incorporated duty cycling between the nodes for extending life time of the network. Our studies provide good understanding for coverage and connectivity problems in sensor networks.en_US
