dc.description.abstractThis paper deals with an interesting application of recently evolved Teaching Learning based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm in designing coordinated Proportional-Integral (PI) controller based Power System Stabilizer (PSS) for single machine infinite bus power system equipped with Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC). As the design is for coordinated system, traditional TLBO results in suboptimal solution and hence we propose a modified TLBO method based on the concept of opposition based learning for designing coordinated controllers. Computer simulations of the proposed approach on various loading conditions reveal the superiority of modified TLBO in designing coordinated controller for enhancing the dynamic stability of power system.en_US
