Abstract: The shear bond performance between the different concrete layers plays an important role on the efficacy of any strengthening strategy. For better repairing the material used for repair should have good adherence to the existing structure/substrate, or a part of it. The shear bond strength at the interface depends on roughness of the substrate, which in turn depends on cohesion and friction at the interface. In the present study the prisms with old concrete substrates, having different interface angle with vertical and the geopolymer concrete [GPC] or self-compacting concrete [SCC] as overlaid material were cast and tested to measure the shear bond strength at the interface. The parameters of the investigation include type of overlaid concrete [GPC or SCC] over normal concrete substrate, strength of overlaid concrete and angle of interface. The results indicated that the shear bond resistance in the case of SCC-NC was better than GPC-NC overlaid – substrate combination. © 2016, Foundation Cement, Lime, Concrete. All rights reserved.
