This paper proposes a Bio-inspired heuristic algorithm to solve the power distribution network reconfiguration problem for loss minimization. The proposed method is based on the social behaviour of firefly insects and their shining phenomenon. During the optimization process, several equality and inequality constraints are to be taken in account for network reconfiguration. The objective function is to improve the voltage of the each bus and reduce the power losses of reconfigured network. Implementing this method is a more robust and easier and it is simulated for IEEE33 and IEEE69 standard distribution test systems with different load levels.en_US
