Abstract: This paper presents, Shunt Active Filter (SA F) for harmonics mitigation and reactive power compensation to improve power quality without considering the dc voltage regulation loop in control algorithm. In practice by eliminating the dc voltage regulation loop in controlling algorithm, reduce the number of sensing elements and simplify the control algorithm. This kind of control algorithm used in low cost applications. The reference currents are generated by using instantaneous symmetrical component theory without Ploss term of Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The compensation capability of shunt active filter is not lost even though the dc voltage regulation loop is not included in the control algorithm. The proposed method has been validated through MATLAB simulation studies. Index Terms: dc voltage regulation loop, Power quality, Shunt Active Filter (SAF), Voltage Source Inverter (VSI).
