Abstract: Carbon coated vanadium oxide nanostructures were synthesized from the vanadium oxide sol using hydrothermalmethodwithandwithoutH2 gasatmosphereforthepurposeofcathodesinthelithium-ion batteries. The synthesized materials were characterized using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A TEM image shows the thickness of carbon coating is more on vanadium oxideunderH2 gasatmosphereduringsynthesis.Electrochemicalresultsshowsthatcarboncoatedvanadium oxide without H2 gas atmosphere have higher capacity than the carbon coated vanadium oxide electrode with H2 gas atmosphere.
