Abstract: The main objective of the study was to develop a methodology to assess the sustainability index of public transportation modes mainly focusing on integration between two transit modes. This index value will signify the present level of integration between the transit modes selected for evaluation. The proposed method involves selection of indicators in view of sustainability to measure the integration levels between the public transit modes. Data collection was carried at four metro stations and bus stops around these stations in South Delhi area. Both qualitative (user perception survey) as well.as quantitative methods were used to measure the selected indicators. Multi Criteria Analysis is used for converting these indicators into a homogenised value between (0 - 1). However each individual indicator will have a separate influence on final sustainability index, hence suitable weights were obtained to each indicators by conducting expert opinion survey. Utilising these obtained weights and their homogenised value of indicators, the final sustainability index for the integration of public transport systems is estimated which is a comprehensive measure of integration between bus and metro.
