dc.description.abstractTraffic signals create typically vehicle queues at signalized approaches that are dissipated during the green interval. In order to characterize the traffic performance at signalized approaches, several measures of effectiveness (MOEs) can be computed, including delay, number of stops, fuel Consumption, emissions and queue length. In this paper, one performance measure - queue length is examined in detail. The focus of this paper is to Compare queue lengths estimated by mostly used models to evaluate intersection performance. Studies have been done to compare various measures of effectiveness (MOE) estimated by some of the models evaluated here. The queue length data was collected from stopped delay studies that measured the number of vehicles stopped at any given time. The focus of this paper is to compare the queue length estimates based on several models with observed data. The models considered were the Deterministic Queuing Models, the HCM 2000 Model, the 1995 CCG Model and the SYNCHRO3 Modelen_US
