Abstract: | Over the years conventional stabilizers like lime, cement and bitumen were used to improve the properties of soils for pavement construction layers. In recent times many bio-enzyme stabilizers are emerged to treat the poor subgrade soil and enhance the strength properties. Among such stabilizers Terrazyme, Zycosoil and Terrasil are gained considerable popularity among the researchers and highway agencies to use in pavement construction. Taking this into account this study is aimed to use Terrazyme stabilizer for strengthening the subgrade properties having of Black Cotton Soil (BC) and morrum Soil. The aim is to evaluate the performance of Terrazyme when mixed with BC soil and all test for laboratory tests such as Unconfined Compressive Test (UCS) and California Bearing Test (CBR. These tests were performed on the soil samples treated with Terrazyme and cure for 07, 14, 21, 28 and 56 days. It has been concluded that that Terrazyme treated BC soil witnessed the significant increase in strength of soil with longer curing period compared to the morrum soil treated with Terrazyme. It is also revealed that Terrazyme is more effective than the conventional stabilizer i.e. stone dust for BC soil but not in the case of morrum soil. |
