dc.description.abstract3-(3-Mercaptoalkyl-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-6-yl)-chromen-2-one 3 have been prepared by the condensation of 3-(2-bromoacetyl)coumarin 1 and 4-amino-5-mercaptoalkyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazole-3-thiol 2 in anhydrous ethanol. Similarly the 7,8-benzo analagues of 1 on reaction with 2 resulted in the formation of 7,8-benzo derivatives of 3s-x. Reaction of 3a with phenacyl chloride in anhydrous ethanol gave corresponding 3-(3-(2-oxo-2-phenylethyl sulphanylmethyl)-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4] thiadiazin-6-yl]chromen-2-one 4. The 7,8-benzo analogues of 3s-t on treatment with phenacyl chloride in anhydrous ethanol under reflux gave 4g and 4h. The newly synthesized compounds are characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. Some of the compounds are screened for their antitubercular, antiviral and anticancer activities.en_US
