Title: SLOW MOTION OF AN INFINITE VISCOUS FLUID DUE TO THE ROTATION OF A CYLINDER
Authors: U. A. SASTRY
Keywords: SLOW MOTION
INFINITE VISCOUS
Issue Date: 1964
Abstract: In this note the slow motion of an infinite viscous fluid due to the rotation of a cylinder has been studied by the meth0B of conformal mapping. Solutions for different cross- sections have been obtained by Frazer, Khamrui and others. The two functions öl(z) and Zl(z), analytic in the region exterior to the rotating cylinder related to the stream function ~(x, y) have been o5tained in a closed form. The expression for the couple to be applied to the cylinder to maintain rotation has been deduced in terms of the constants which occur in the mapping function.
