An experimental investigation on the behaviour of ferrocement confined reinforced concrete (FCRC) under axial compression, by varying the specific surface factor (Sf) which controls the behaviour of ferrocement, is presented. A total of 270 prisms of size 150 x 150 x 300 mm were tested. The results indicated that additional confinement in the form of ferrocement shell improved the ultimate strength, strain at ultimate strength and the ductility of concrete. The improvement is in proportion to the Sf of the ferrocement shell for a given confinement index (Ci) of the lateral reinforcementen_US
