The flow generated by the slow steady rotation of an approximate sphere about its axis of symmetry in an incompressible micropolar fluid is studied. Expressions for the velocity and microrotation components are obtained in terms of modified Bessel functions and Gegenbauer's functions. The couple experienced by the approximate sphere is evaluated and the effects of the polarity parameters and deformation parameters on the couple are numerically studied. It is noticed that under the Stokesian assumption, the deformation in the body has no great influence on the couple experienced. The flows generated by a rotating sphere and a rotating oblate spheroid are obtained as special cases.en_US
