Spectroscopic and Thermal Studies on Irradiated Poly (Ethylene Maleic Anhydride)

Title: Spectroscopic and Thermal Studies on Irradiated Poly (Ethylene Maleic Anhydride)
Authors: Rao, N.R.; Rao, T.V.; Reddy, S.V.S.R.; Rao, B.S.
Abstract: Radiation effects in Poly (ethylene maleic anhydride) (MANPE) have been investigated by Electron spin resonance (ESR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) techniques. The ESR spectra of MNAPE under conditions like radiation dose and temperature have been recorded on irradiation. Alkyl group formed in MANPE which abstract oxygen and convert to peroxy radical on increase of radiation dose. More number of chain cleavages occur producing more number of free radicals which resulted increase in intensities of ESR spectrum. With the increase of temperature the free radical formed in MANPE may react with themselves or with other radical, resulting in the decay of ESR signals at high temperature. The FTIR spectra of irradiated MANPE possess absorption bands at ‐
and
positions indicating the presence of OH and C = O groups. The DSC data suggests that on irradiation the melting point slightly increases due to the formation of network structure.

In-vitro bioactivity of zirconia doped borosilicate glasses

Title: In-vitro bioactivity of zirconia doped borosilicate glasses
Authors: Samudrala, Rajkumar; Azeem, P. Abdul
Abstract: Glass composition 31B2O3-20SiO2-24.5Na2O-(24.5-x) CaO-xZrO2 x=1,2,3,4,5 were prepared by melt-quenching Technique. The formation of hydroxyapatite layer on the surface of glasses after immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) was explored through XRD, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX) analyses. In this report, we observed that hydroxyapatite formation for 5days of immersion time. Also observed that with increasing the immersion time up to 15days, higher amount of hydroxyapatite layer formation on the surface of glasses. The varying composition of zirconia in glass samples influences shown by XRD, FTIR studies. The present results indicate that, in-vitro bioactivity of glasses decreased with increasing zirconia incorporation.

Authors: Thangaraju, K.; lee, Jonghee; lee, Jeong-Ik; Chu, Hye Yong; Kim, Yun-Hi; Kwon, Soon-Ki
Abstract: A 10-nm thick 4,4',4''-tris(carbazole-9-yl)tri-phenylamine (TcTa) interlayer effectively confines triplet excitons within the emissive layer (EML) of phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (PHOLEDs) based on greenemitting Ir(ppy)3 dopant and improves the charge balance in the EML of the device, resulting the higher device efficiencies of 61.7 cd/A, 19.7 %, and 43.2 lm/W with the maximum luminance of 75,310 cd/m2 and highly improved efficiency roll-off (22.2% at 20 mA/cm2) when compared to those (61.1 cd/A, 19.6 %, and 47.2 lm/W with a maximum luminance of 38,350 cd/m2) of the standard device with efficiency roll-off of 62.3 % at 20 mA/cm2.

Title: NON-LOCAL SPIN INJECTION EFFECTS IN COPLANAR La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8/ La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 TRI-LAYER
Authors: Joseph, D. Paul; Lin, J. G.
Abstract: Non-local electrical properties of pulsed laser deposited La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8/La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (L-B-L) coplanar tri-layer is investigated under different wiring configurations. Long range super-current of Bi-2212 penetrating into LSMO is dependent on geometry of spin injection. From qualitative analysis of structural, magnetic and electrical data, long range super-current is suggested to pass through domain walls and/or grain boundaries of LSMO.
